*Warning: Many people have reported unauthorised recurring debit payments on credit cards by way of being signed up for a recurring refill program they didn’t ask for. This reportedly has happend on “free” offers that specifically stated no recurring billing. The company has stated they’ve corrected this issue and refunded people, but that’s been disputed by some users, so it’s hard to say where things actually stand right now.
Recurring programs are fine and useful of course, IF people sign up for them voluntarily. That doesn’t seem to be the case here.
The recurring program in question is part of their membership club which you can join for a monthly fee for which you get 10 – 15 refill cartridges per month depending on membership level. This also entitles customers to store discounts of up to 40%.
Some people still look past that or don’t know about it and like their product, but it’s hard for us to actually recommend using them given the sketchy billing situation.
If you decide you’d still like to try them, it’s probably best to first call your credit card company and see if they’ll give you a temporary one-time use virtual card number. Many credit card companies provide them to prevent fraud. It’s just a temporary credit card number different from your permanent one. It will still bill to your card but can only be used once, so there’s no risk of unexpected rebills. It’s a good thing to keep in mind for any online merchant you’re leery of.
